We have some great local attractions, possibly too many to mention but here is a few we like along with some a bit further afield.

  • Powis Castle and Gardens

Powis Castle is a medieval castle, fortress and grand country house near Welshpool. The castle is known for its formal gardens and for its interiors.

  • Welshpool And Llanfair Light Railway

The Welshpool & Llanfair Light Railway was built in 1903 to link farming communities with the market town of Welshpool and provide them with an outlet for their produce. Explore the rolling landscape of our heritage railway, in easy reach of the West Midlands, and embrace the smells, sights and sounds of our fabulous visitor attraction.

  • Montgomery Castle

Montgomery is one of those castles that, even in ruin, retain a powerful atmosphere and presence that transcend its state of preservation. Perhaps it’s something to do with its location, on a steep crag above a pretty Georgian town with all-seeing views across the Welsh border.

  • The Old Bell Museum Montgomery

A sixteenth century inn converted into a local history museum by Montgomery Civic Society. It is run by volunteers and is the winner of a Prince of Wales Award.

  • Lake Vyrnwy

The stunning Lake Vyrnwy is our local treasure and only a stones throw from your dome. Walking, cycling, bacon butties & cream teas- it has all this and more.

Lake Vyrnwy is one of Wales' hidden gems. With stunning views, a wonderful array of walks to suit all abilities and some fantastic wildlife, it's a great place to visit throughout the year.

  • Glansevern Hall Gardens

Romantically positioned on the banks of the River Severn in Mid Wales, Glansevern Hall Gardens offer over 25 stunning acres of diverse landscape and exotic planting. The spectacular estate comprises a variety of garden attractions, such as a five acre lake, a cascading Water Garden, lakeside and woodland walks, the more formal Walled Garden, the charming Folly Garden and the secluded Bird Hide, set where the River Severn meets the River Rhiew.
